whoever you are

wherever you're from

you count

Every 10 years, everyone living in the United States is counted in the U.S. Census. The counts are used to distribute power at every level of government and distribute more than $675 billion each year to communities across the nation. Decisions about Indy's future, and the dollars for it, come down to counting everyone, especially YOU!

Census participation helps your community

Political Power

From school boards to the U.S. House of Representatives, Census counts are used to distribute power to the people.

Community Funding

Over $675 billion each year is distributed to communities based on Census counts, funding everything from schools and health care to transportation and housing.

Business Investment

Businesses big and small use Census data to determine where to open up stores and make investments.

Quality of Life Programs

Non-profit and other community organizations use Census data to develop, implement, and evaluate programs.

Census participation is safe and easy

Completely Confidential

By Federal law, responses to the Census are confidential and cannot be shared with anyone, including law enforcement, immigration, and tax agencies.

Easy to Complete

This time the Census will have an easy online option for the first time ever, but there will still be paper forms and a phone option available. However you participate, it's easier than having a Census worker knock on your door, which is what happens if you don't participate another way!
